Lymphoedema occurs when the lymnphatic system fails to function correctly causing persistent swelling of the limb(s) and other areas of the body.


This progressive chronic disorder can have onging effects on the physical and emotional wellbeing of the person inpact upon their quality of life. The onset can occur at any time within months of the damage or it may appear many years later. Early diagnosis is the key to reducing its impact on patients. While there is now cure it can be reduced and managed with appropriate intervention.


Our Physiotherapists have under taken post-graduate training in the treatment and management of lymphoedema.


Lymphoedema is managed by physical therapy which includes: exercise, education, compression and skin care.
